Worst refrigerator I've ever owned

This is the most expensive refrigerator that we have ever bought. We fell for all the hype and advertising about Maytag's superior quality. Well let me tell you that we have had more problems with this refrigerator than any other brand that we have ever owned. We have owned Kenmore, Whirlpool, and GE, all of them between 10 and 20 years old and not one repair bill between them. One month after the warranty ran out, it cost us almost $500.00 to replace the ice maker in this Maytag. The service technician said that this is very common and that he replaces more ice makers in Maytags than any other brand. We have had eggs and vegetables freeze solid in the refrigerator. Now ice builds up in the freezer and every few days I have to break up the ice and remove it or water starts coming out from beneath the refrigerator. Very disappointed and just one more repair bill for this Maytag refrigerator. I will never purchase any Maytag products ever again and would highly recommend anyone considering buying a Maytag to look elsewhere.

Works great, but with a couple of flaws. The ice dispenser can occasionally jam if ice backs up in the feeder tube. This occurs when trying to fill small-mouthed containers. Second is the glass tray under the veggie bins / top of the meat and cheese drawer. It comes out with daily usage too frequently. It needs to be more secure, and duct tape doesn't seem to help.Otherwise, no complaints about this unit.

This refrigerator is very roomy! I love that I can open the doors and see everything inside. I can keep refrigerator contents well organized and my family loves the ice and water on the door. Freezer is very large too and with the upper drawer it's easy to get to everything.

Pretty good machine. The icebox often gets clogged up, and the overspill beneath the water and icedispenser overflows sometimes, but otherwise ok.

I really did appreciate the room to accommodate additional salads and desserts and sodas needed for pot luck meals during the holidays. And the appliance is good looking. Lots of freezer space. This was a good purchase.

love everything about this purchase except the ice make leaves something to be desired. The ice storage doesn't hold much and in less than 6 months the ice maker started leaking. It is quiet and storage pretty good

This refrigerator is amazing! The size is perfect for when I put together large cakes or party platters. The only 2 negatives I have are that it's difficult to keep 'finger-print free' and that the ice/water don't both work at the same time.

I really love the size of this refrigerator, especially the freezer drawer!! I can keep everything in one refrigerator! we used to keep our milk, sodas, and ice cream in a refrigerator in the garage because it kept them colder and also for storage. Of all my new Maytag appliances in my kitchen, (stove, dishwasher and microwave) I love my refrigerator the Most!!!

The only thing I would change is the way the crushed ice dispenses. It does tend to fly and scatter, no matter how closely you hold your glass to capture the ice. BUT this is only a minor point and the only criticism I can find! This is an attractive, easy to care for, efficient piece of equipment. I never think about my fridge, which means it must be doing its job. It matches my kitchen nicely. Good choice. No regrets.

The capacity and design makes this refrigerator/freezer a 5-star product for me. I enjoy cooking for groups and this 'frig' has plenty of room for my large serving platters. I often freeze ahead for company and potlucks too. The added drawer in the freezer is great for small items and the perfect 'level' place to place my food item to freeze. As for Quality and performance... I look to Maytag when I need to replace an appliance. My husband loves the ice and water feature in the door too. Thanks Maytag!

The French door gives wonderful access to all parts of the refrigerator section. I especially like the freezer section with the pull out drawer and the slide out bin. I can easily reach al items without concern.Overall I have been very satisfied with the refrigerator

I purchased this refrigerator because of the Maytag brand, price and look. The refrigerator is very nice looking and the stainless is easy to clean. I am disppointed when the letters for the ice/water have almost complete rubbed off after a month and the shelves could be designed a bit better there seems to be wasted space. The icemaker is loud but it performs well. I do like the gradual light after you open the door.

Already had my first service call due to a a design defect, The strainer used to handle the condensate off the evaporator was designed too tight thus clogging up far too easily causing the freezer floor to ice over.The service was fast and fantastic. A steam out the passage and the sheet of ice on the freezer floor plus a small modification to the screen, and life is great,The ice maker isn't one of Maytag's proudest moments. Small cubes that melt real fast along with slow production. but over all appliance is Great. Purchased a Maytag dishwasher shortly there after because if my satisfaction with this unit.

I repair appliances. This is a good unit! It does dispense crushed ice every once in awhile, with full cubes. Common problem that only upsets certain people (up tight) wanting cubes only. Great unit!

My last fridge was a side by side and was about 18 years old. It still was working fine, but leaking a bit. These new appliances are made cheaper. The drawers are somewhat flimsy and the ice maker much smaller. So far, it meets our needs. I was apprehensive about the bottom freezer, but we have gotten used to it. Let's see how long it lasts. Definitely glad I bought the warranty in case it breaks down.

I bought this refrigerator to replace a 20-year old French door model when I installed new wood floors in my kitchen. The configuration with the freezer on the bottom and double doors up top is far superior to a French door model. My only problem is that the refrigerator is so roomy I often "loose" items inside.

Pros: unit is quiet, well sized, good layout, and performs well.Cons: plastic covering that it is shipped with is hard to get out of small crack. Water tray should be made of different material, stains easily.

I was really excited about this refrigerator. I love the space, the quietness of it, but the only problem I have is with the ice maker. I was shocked at how small the ice tray is, considering the enormity of the box where the ice is made. It jams quite often, leaving crushed ice and water on the floor.

Not only does this refrigerator look great but the room inside for storage is fantastic. When we have family dinners I now have room to store vegetable and fruit trays, dessert, and still have room for leftovers. The features are most convenient. My only negative is the noises are a little louder than I expected but still much quieter than the refrigerator I had. Plus we received a great deal on price.

Double doors mean no bending to see what is there. It is all visible. Adjustable shelves allows room for tall items. Warning sounds let you know you left it open, especially useful for us older folks. Pull out drawer for freezer has excellent capacity, and again, things are easy to find. My husband asked me to write this and I was excited to do it. I LOVE MY FRIDGE!

I love the fridge the only thing about black appliances is the finger prints and it shows everything. The thing I wish they would have told me was you can only use micro fiber cloths on it. I used a paper towel and scratched it. But over all I love the layout and the room it has.

Our large family loves this fridge: spacious and can hold lots large and small items; love adjustable shelves and spacious drawers. Opens and shuts with ease even for short kids. Love the water and ice maker. One downside: Wish ice maker was larger. Overall, greatly satisfied!
