Stove Range

Glorianne 12/3/2019

Had the range about 3 weeks. Cooks ok but the glass top is terrible!! This range replaced a 20+ year old Jenn-air with a corning ware glass top which looked better than this range after 3 weeks. Also.......getting a F2E1 error with 'call service' on control panel. PLUS....the control is should not be on TOP of stove. Lots of locking the panel and unclocking. LOUD downdraft fan.....and I do mean LOUD

So disappointed...

Disappointed2019 12/2/2019

I had such high hopes for this range. I had a Jenn-Air downdraft range for 16 years and absolutely loved it. I did a lot of research when I had to replace and I thought I had picked the perfect range. I bought this range in March of this year and when I first started using it I could smell burnt plastic every time I used the oven. One morning I went into the kitchen and I could hear a clicking sound and the control panel on the range was blank. I immediately shut off the breaker to the oven and called to have someone come and check it out. It turned out that the panel that is at the back of the oven which has three wires connected to it was overheating and melting! The three wires that were to be tightened onto the panel when it left the warehouse had not been tightened at all and the one wire that amps up the oven was trying to amp itself up and was extremely hot. The wire actually broke off when the technician touched it. Super scary as I had a house fire in 2002 and needless to say, I was very upset that this could have caused another one. I had the technician that KitchenAid sent out replace the panel but I was still very worried about turning on the oven. One month ago when I turned on my oven the fan at the back started to clink very loudly when the oven was heating up. I called the service department...again...and they said they would send a technician. That was one month ago...haven't had a technician show up. I would not recommend KitchenAid to anyone because of their customer service. I am so disappointed and they just don't seem to care. I spend way too much money on this appliance and KitchenAid should be embarrassed by the way they handled my concerns. Two service calls with the first 8 months...not okay.

Not what I expect from Kitchen Aid

Dewit 11/25/2019

This oven is cheaply built but has a premium price tag. Problems I've had to date (1year in service): Oven does not keep temp and must be turned off and turned back on to engage heating element. Poor control on all burners- even the precise control burner. Keypad is susceptible to failure if wet. Poorly sealed on top. Any spill can cause keypad to fail. I've replaced 2 and was told after most recent service call to replace the entire oven. Getting a single year of use from an oven that costs over $2,000 seems ridiculous to me. I'll never buy another product from Kitchen Aid after experiencing this oven.

Great range.

Chris80 11/14/2019

I have had this range for 2 weeks. Replacement for an old Maytag downdraft range. Had the downdraft professionally installed. So far it works great. The oven is so much larger than I expected and I really like the slide out rack. I will get used to the smooth top burners since they are a first for me. is a first for me. The range was on sale so I jumped at the bargain.

Very unhappy with my purchase of this product!

LakeLiving 11/13/2019

I recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased all Kitchen Aid products thinking Kitchen Aid was a top rated product. I am extremely unhappy with my slide in down draft range. I love to cook and this range has been a huge disappointment. It takes way to long to pre-heat regardless of what temperature I am cooking at. I called an had one of their technicians take a look at it thinking their must be something wrong. Range may look good, but that's it. If you like cooking/baking, this is not the product for you. Very, very disappointing.

Large oven

Granny S 11/11/2019

I kind of like my new range. Looks nice. Love the roller shelf in oven. Don't really like the digital on top front of range. Always touching it and have to cancel it out. Hard to clean because of that. Also the back vent gets really hot on the left side. As it slides into my peninsula I'm fearful people at counter could get burned. Always warning anyone sitting there. Otherwise it seems to heat evenly and bake and cook well. Also the downdraft is quite noisy. But it really sucks the odors and steam away from the cook top.

Not Happy

CJAS 11/1/2019

I am not happy with this product. The biggest issue is the "Aqualift Technology". It does not work (the online video is misleading). I have had my product for 1 month. I used the Aqualift "Self -Clean" for a minimal spill of olive oil and I had to scrub (with the scrubber that came with the product ) not wipe. It makes me not want to use the oven. Unfortunately this technology gives new meaning to the term "Self Clean". Could it be possible that I bought a "lemon"? Other suggestions: the dials for the burners should be the same on both sides. On this stove, the left knob directs the left back burner. The left knob on the right directs the right front burner. When there is a power outage, it would be better if the clock would blink. (It comes back on using a random time and does not blink).

Very unhappy with this purchase!

eakx2 10/8/2019

Thought I was getting a quality stove considering the price. Unfortunately there are so many problems with this model. Every time you reach over (we have it in our island) the stove turns on, or the downdraft turns on, it takes 20-25 minutes to heat up to 350, if you are heating higher than that, even longer. When the timer goes off it beeps ONCE very low so you have to be in the room if you want to hear it. Same with the Pre-heat buzzer, beeps very low, can't hear it if you aren't in the same room. Let's see what else...oh if you have the stove on simmer, your food us boiling...not joking. There is no low...even ULTRA low is almost at a boil. There is only one timer (my other stove had two timers so you could time two things)...The timer is very confusing, if you don't hit exactly the right buttons it shuts off the oven and stops cooking. Just trying to warn you so you don't have the same problems I am having :(

Kayellencs 10/2/2019

I brought this a month ago and absolutely love it!!! It has a nice downdraft van with it. The features are easy to use and see. It does not have storage drawer underneath it for broiler pans and cookie sheets. The only problem is the stainless steel on the top of the stove by the control knobs does tend to scratch easily. A easy solve is to put small shelving pads on top of the stainless steel.

Nice slide in range!

stones fan63 8/31/2019

Owned this for a little over a year. Love the cooktop features. The dual burners are perfect for any size pot or pan. Especially like the high output burner on right front. Great for boiling foods fast. The oven is spacious and I like the convection cooking modes. The instructions are easy to follow and it cooks as a convection oven should. The oven does take a bit longer to preheat but is expected since the heating element is below the floor of the oven. The control panel, being glass, is sensitive.I was aware of this when I purchased it. An attractive appliance that fits in with all our other Whirlpool kitchen appliances.

Awesome range and oven

Big Daddy B 8/22/2019

We have had this Kitchen Aid Appliance for about a month now. My wife loves to bake. She has baked a turkey, roast, casserole, cake and several other deserts and they all came out perfect! I do most of my cooking on top of the range and I love the burners! The heat control is very easy to control. It took me a time or two to get used to it. All of the controls are very easy to figure out! We love our new range from Kitchen Aid!

Downdraft not compatible with previous stove

Soosie 8/6/2019

My old Jenn Air stove stopped working so we had to have another one. We needed a new stove to fit in same spot in counter with downdraft. It was unbelievably difficult to put the new stove in as the downdraft did not match up. We had to put another hole in the floor, and cover the previous hole, and spent many hours trying to match up the piping. Our appliance repair man has been here over 5 hrs. so far. And yes, he knows what he is doing. Why can't all the stoves with a downdraft be built the same? and with the same sizing of piping? Poor design.

Quality? Decals used for burner indicators!

Disappointed 1118 7/31/2019

I purchased an electric downdraft slide in range in November of 2018. This range is less than a year old! Love the way it cooks, but they used decals for the burner locations and they're wearing off. Called kitchen aid and they don't have anything to replace them. Terrible quality!!! I was told when cooking I'd have to remember which burner is which! Aesthetically it ruins the look for the top panel Unhappy with kitchen aid's response!

Love the range

BKjeepguy 7/19/2019

This is a very good range with many features that were a pleasant surprise. The wide viewing angle of the front glass is very nice and my wife is ready to use the convection oven. It also comes with an assortment of racks and water tray accessory. We followed the instructions on the vent piping and the fan suction is excellent. It is very strong on high speed, low speed is adequate for most cooking. Like others, we had little choice on the replacement of our downdraft JennAir.The install can be challenging, dependent on what you are replacing I suppose. It is about what I was expecting though due to the type of range and the feature of the downdraft so I was not surprised. If I was replacing a KitchenAid, it may have been easier. The downdraft piping can be installed low on the rear wall or in the floor near the back wall. You'll need about 4.5" from either side of a 30"w opening for sliding the new range in over the blower and the pipe whether in the floor or wall. My old range blower and pipe were to the right side but further towards the front and so we had to move the hole and pipe to the rear. I researched for details before purchase but was unable to find anything. Attached is a photo of the floor template. Notice the specifics on blower mounting and downdraft hole location. If done per this template, the new range will just slide right in at the end. You'll also need to make note of your electrical plug location. I had to relocate ours. Initially, the range stuck out about 4.5 inches. This was mostly the control panel but my wife wanted it further in so I cut 2" from the granite countertop. There was enough overhang in the rear (about 3") that I did not need to modify the inside of cabinet. Note that the trim kit does not exend befond the front control panel. This is something we elected to live with and is acceptable if you have a good cut in your countertop. We built a framework from PVC and covered in 2 mil plastic to keep the dust down. Also had a shopvac (with dustbag) running while cutting to suck up the dust. We covered the inside cabinets with plastic as well and put plenty of towels on the floor to absorb water. Used a spray bottle to keep water in the path while cutting. Before cutting, I turned off the breaker and verified power was off. It was a lengthy project but worth it. Take your time, measure twice and you should be ok if you are handy. I would not trust this install with just anyone though. We did notice a few stains (from cooked on food/grease) in the glass top the first week of cooking and we could not get them out. We were disappointed but ordered the cleaning kit specified in the owners manual. The stains came out no problem so we are very pleased. There was a strong smell from the oven the first few times we used it. It faded and then went away after about 1.5 weeks.

Awesome upgrade

Onidnar 7/18/2019

Love the unit, which replaced a 30 year old downdraft. The slide out rack is a very nice feature and the digital controls are easy. You can lock the digital controls, which is great because of having kids. However, within a month or so of installation the unit gave an error code about something electrical. We followed the directions online (reset breaker) and it happened again. The unit still works fine but the error code returned about a half dozen times over about 6 months. I finally called to have a tech come out. He said the code is common because the part related to the code goes bad. He tried to replace it but has to reorder because the appliance store he works at ordered the wrong one.

Exterior too hot!

Phillips1 6/20/2019

I bought two of these ranges. One is just fine. The second one, when heated to just 350 degrees, gets dangerously hot on the exterior. The cabinetry knobs adjacent to the oven are untouchable when the oven is operating. The KitchenAid hierarchy issued some babble about the temperature level that is allowed on the exterior of ovens and offered no explanation why the one oven operates correctly and the other does not. I intend to contact the Consumer Safety Organization regarding this problem as a small child or an older person's skin could definitely be burned by brushing against this appliance. The technican could offer no explanation why one oven overheated and the other did not.

Dangerous appliance. Do not buy!

Pam in VT 6/11/2019

The knobs on this appliance turns easily and have about a 1" play before the starter kicks in. I have found them inadvertently turned on with gas filling the house several times. KitchenAid is aware and says it is due to care and use and recommends i get knob covers. It is a flawed design. Also the cat walks on the panel and turns things on and off. Downdrafts doesn't work well either. I have had several KitchenAid appliances over the years and am disappointed they will not help me.

Self cleaning does not work

Cdn1960 5/13/2019

Purchased because of kitchen renovation. Was installed in island abt 6 months ago. Expensive to buy, costly to install. The Aqualift self cleaning does not work. Had a meat pie spatter everywhere, heavy grease on bottom and sides. Aqualift did absolutely nothing, even after repeated cycles. Still trying to figure out best method for cleaning sensitive enamel. The downdraft is a bit noisy, but it does a great job removing odours. Happy with all other features. Would not recommend this range because of hefty price, no self cleaning and complicated installation.

It's a beautiful stove; prime comment from friends

Bill Sorry it is mine 4/25/2019

Just received my Kitchen Aid last week. Did not know what to expect, since all I had was a front view of the range. It replaced my Jenn-Aire which I had since mid 1970's. My wife loved this stove. She has since passed away and I soon learned that I like the Jenn-Aire myself and was not to happy that the warranty company wasn't going to replace it with a Jenn-Aire. I was truly surprised at how well the Kitchen Aid (KA) fitted in my kitchen and how good it looks. I am not much of a cook but I think it will be quite an experience learning to be a good one with all of the built in features of the KA. To tell you the truth I think my friends are jealous and they would like to have one like it.

Terrible stove for baking

Musolf6491 4/25/2019

I bought this stove thinking it would be great to have a downdraft. Unfortunately the heat for baking is off by 20 degree, back to front, making it impossible to put in a 24 cupcake tin in the oven. Kitchenaid will do nothing as they say that different is acceptable. For me, it's not acceptable. Do not spend your money on this oven!

Replacement for 1984 jennaire stove

MrHusky 4/25/2019

I bough this stove to replace my 1984 jennaire electric downdraft range. The installation is a bit of a challenge but as long as you locate the duct in the proper area of the provided floor template it installs rather easy. New range comes with Pre installed 4 prong plug so you will need to have a ground wire. The electric cooktop heats up and boils water very fast. This was a concern because my previous stove took forever and didn't really allow for a rapid boil. I was hoping for some better electronics with touch screen and easy cooking settings. The range is a bit dated in the electronics area. I waited 2 years for it to be updated but couldn't wait any longer. Once I started using it I realized it does everything I need and have no regrets about purchasing it. If you want WiFi cooking and fancy additional gadgets you can buy the separately. I think kitchenaid is just starting to sell this items now. Haven't tried to clean it yet but will.just keep it clean instead of waiting for it to need to be clean. All in all we are very happpy with the range top and the oven temperature consistency. Most electric ovens have temperature swings of 30 degrees when cooking. Apparently this is considered normal. My oven swings about 22 degrees. The adjustment is very easy with the calibration setting. I added 5 degrees and used a kitchenaid digital WiFi thermostat. You won't regret it and there is no need to wait for the induction top model. If you enjoy cooking and require a downdraft range, buy this one. If you want auto cooking modes with a colorful touch screen and lots of useless features, but a microwave. Be well

Horrible product

allysonmihalko 3/31/2019

I bought the kitchenaid downdraft electric oven to replace a Jenn Air that I had. It was a very expensive range and I am very disappointed in the product! The Aqua Lift technology for self cleaning is worthless, it doesn't remove anything. I had a fairly inexpensive range in my last home and it's self cleaning feature worked much better. The Kitchenaid scratches very, very easily and is not durable enough for cooking with high quality cookware and normal use! Tonight I noticed something had spilled over at some point and ran down to the oven door, when I wiped it off the clear coat on the stainless door peeled off!! This range is very, very poor quality for the big price tag it carries!!! I will NEVER invest in a Kitchenaid product again!!
